Beyond the tourist-trodden paths of Arles, where Roman amphitheaters and Van Gogh's legacy draw admiring crowds, lie the Trebon and Bariol districts – neighbourhoods that tell a different story of this ancient city. These streets, where French citizens of diverse origins have built their lives, have become synonymous with territorial tensions and illicit commerce. Yet through the ethereal lens of infrared technology, I capture these contested spaces in a way that uncovers their hidden poetry: ordinary streets transform into dreamlike passages bathed in the signature lavender hues reminiscent of Provence's famous fields. Familiar buildings emerge as otherworldly monuments, their surfaces reflecting light in the same purple tones that have defined this region for centuries. This series explores how artistic vision can reshape our understanding of place, revealing beauty in unexpected corners of urban landscape while acknowledging the complex social fabric that shapes these communities.
